My Travel Story
Sue Moo’s African Adventure
As I approach my 65th Birthday (hard to believe, I know), I have been given a much longed for opportunity via Millwall Football Club and Millwall Community Trust (a charity) to travel to Kenya with African Adventures (a social enterprise) in June 2022 and volunteer in a school project in a slum area of Nakuru.

Having been involved in the past with youth theatres for many years, I have seen the difference this work has had on those who took part and I aim to take the joy and laughter of this into Kenyan school classrooms by helping to deliver sessions. However, to do this, part of the trip requires me to fund-raise to the tune of £2000 . Yikes.
Now I don't expect anyone to just hand over any of their hard-earned cash just because I’m asking! So, I have decided to set myself a challenge. For every £20 raised, I will learn a word in Swahili and at the end of my fundraising will make a video showing off my new linguistic skills in conversation with Kenyan media personality (and former Surrey resident) Shalini Bhalla-Lucas. If I hit my target, I will be speaking one hundred words – and hopefully a lot more if I raise more money.
Lots of you will know that any chance I get to be in front of a camera and speak into a microphone is my idea of heaven so you will be in for a treat!! Those of you who know me very well will confirm that speaking a foreign language is not my forte (I have unobservant ears),but I cannot think of anything better than to be able to converse with the children (and adults) in the Kenyan school in their own language.
I do hope you will feel able to support me in some small way and that with your help we can all make a small difference to those that need it.
