My Travel Story

by: Jennifer Watson Start Date: Aug 4, 2023 - End Date: Dec 3, 2023
My journey began when I started my Etsy shop due to the urgent need for financial independence, which was tearing my family apart. After graduating from University, I secured a fundraising job at my alma mater, which paid well, but things took an unfortunate turn when I became pregnant. My boss thought it reflected poorly on the school and made my life unbearable, leading to my eventual dismissal. Fighting for the unemployment benefits owed to me was yet another challenge.

Following the job loss, our financial struggles persisted for several years, and I faced the embarrassment of moving back in with my parents at the age of 30. This was a difficult situation, but it was better than living in a place infested with rats, causing distress for my 8-year-old son. Eventually, we managed to get back on our feet and move out, but we could only afford a home in a neighborhood riddled with crime and danger.

Throughout this tumultuous time, I jumped from job to job, searching for meaningful work that aligned with my passion for helping others, sparked my creativity, and satisfied my hunger for learning. As I became more attuned to myself, I realized that working for myself doing what I loved could provide the long-term financial stability we needed.

However, it wasn't until a tragic incident, where I witnessed a man's death while with my 4-year-old daughter, that I became serious about taking charge of my life. With my husband's support, I declined a full-time position and decided to take a leap of faith, opening my Etsy shop. I was determined to swim rather than sink, aiming to create a safe environment for my children, aiming to enjoy family trips to different countries, and improve our overall quality of life.

The journey was far from easy. Initially, I found myself sabotaging my own progress due to self-doubt and negative thoughts. It took a considerable effort to realize this and work on my mindset and emotions, allowing me to gain control and take charge of my life's narrative.

Applying the principles of transpersonal psychology that I had studied to myself, I began to listen to my intuition, guiding me towards success. As a result, my Etsy shop started flourishing, providing me with the freedom to work from home and have full control over my time. Over the past four years, I've made a real difference in the world, achieving over 45,000 sales in more than 40 countries, all without any financial backing. The satisfaction of living my life's mission and helping others fuels my passion.

As much as I wish I could say that everything has been perfect since then, life has thrown its share of challenges. Recently, our resources have depleted, and we face financial hardships. Our sales have declined, and we've exhausted our savings. We even have to go to court in September to try to keep the house we just bought. With my husband's health issues, including PTSD, and our responsibilities as parents, getting a regular job isn't an option.

But we remain strong and resilient, holding onto hope and cherishing the precious moments together. Despite the obstacles, we prioritize our health, acknowledging the importance of staying strong for each other and our family.

I want to express my gratitude for your incredible support and love during these trying times. Your unwavering presence in our lives means the world to us. As we face these challenges, we know we are not alone, and your generosity and kindness offer a glimmer of hope. Your contributions will not only assist us with immediate needs but also help revive our business through advertising, offering a brighter future for our family and enabling us to continue our mission of making a positive impact on the world.

Thank you for being an integral part of our lives and providing the strength and hope we need during these difficult times. Together, we can navigate any storm, knowing that love and community will guide us through.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Jennifer
