My Travel Story
I have been blessed with the opportunity to be 1 of 12 students out of Pitt's College of Business Administration to attend a two week study abroad program in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. Here, I will be able to gain a first hand exposure to the facinating industry of coffee in Costa Rica by exploring the in and outs of large-scale and small-scale coffee growing, processing, and exportation. Some of the companies I will be visitng include Cafe Britt, Cafe Rey, Life Monteverde, and Institutio Nacional del Cafe. In addition, I will have the chance to participate in certain cultural activities such as a trip to Monteverde (cloud forests and coffee plantations), Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfalls, and activities with local Costa Rican students.
What is Plus 3?
The Plus 3 program is a study abroad program intended for freshman who desire to get a taste of studying abroad in the countires of China, Germany, Vietnam, Costa Rica or Italy. The program will give me three credits towards my graduation and I believe it will have positive implications towards my future career and success.
Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has had a special place in my heart ever since the spring of 2017 when I attended a missions trip outside of the captial city, San Jose, in order to help teach underprivileged elementary kids about the sports of soccer and basketball. I also have experience with the Spanish language and have communication skills which I would like to take advantage of. Also, as a major coffee lover, the program's focus on Costa Rican coffee was a large factor in my decision making.
Goal
My goal is to raise up to 5000$ in order to fund my trip.
