My Travel Story

First of all, I would like to address that this trip's main aim is for the spreading of a good man's ashes; my friend was a game designer, like myself, and he was not just a friend, he was Jackson Fowler. Jack, for short, was a comrade, an inspiration, and a respected person. Unfortunately Jack passed away on 3 June 2015. He lived in Nova Scotia, Canada, and I recently received some of his ashes (As well as the ashes of his dog, Sasha). It is my duty to keep these ashes, as well as spread some of them in Red Square in Moscow. I knew this would mean a lot to him, as he worked with me on turning it into a game which accumulated millions of players. I have provided a link below so you can explore his life, death and what he looks like.

If I am to summarize Jackson Fowler, I could not simply put it into words. Nobody could. He was an amazing character, and always friendly and welcoming. His story would simply bring you to tears and smiles at the same time.

This trip aims to bring the ashes to Moscow or Saint Petersburg, preferably Moscow. However, it would be more expensive for Jack's family to travel from Canada, and so if not enough money is raised to support flights from Canada to Russia, then alternatively I could distribute the ashes, as I live near London, which has closer/cheaper access to Russia. So if that is the case, then I present my personal pledge below.

Greetings, I am Alex White, a young student that has studied Politics, Sociology, Philosophy, History and various languages including Russian, German, Italian and Spanish. I have provided a photo in this page to show you what I look like (Wearing red).

I have always had an interest in Russia and the USSR, like my friend, Jack. Next year will be the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution; the February Revolution and the October Revolution, which occurred in 1917 in Petrograd (Saint Petersburg). I have always wanted to visit Moscow and Saint Petersburg and would deeply be grateful for any contribution to this trip.

I have quite a lot of travelling experience, so I know that, as always, I will learn more and take many photos and overall have lots of fun. My knowledge of the Russian language already provides me with a strong social, cultural and historic advantage, which I will of course use to the best of my ability for communication, reading, knowing where to go, etc.

This will be my first time in Moscow or Saint Petersburg, so it will mean a lot for me. But more importantly, it would mean a lot to Jack and his family if this fundraiser can provide them with the opportunity to visit Moscow.

If some money can be raised, then the trip can go ahead for someone to go. However, if there is an amount sufficient enough for Jack's family to visit Moscow or Saint Petersburg, then that is all we need. I am based in England, near London, and Jack's family (Mother and sister) are based in Canada, near Halifax (Nova Scotia). If even more money is raised to such a point that I could meet Jack's family in Moscow, then that is a bonus. This would bring not only a chance for my dream trip to come true, but for Jack's family to meet me, where we can experience the spreading of Jack's ashes together, achieving another step as part of Jackson's Journey.

I have also provided a link to the Facebook group for Jackon's Journey, below.
