My Travel Story

by: Émélie Boucher Start Date: Jan 2, 2018 - End Date: May 1, 2018
Hello,
My name is Émélie, I am from Quebec. I began studying Psychology at the University of Montreal this September and I want to use these studies to become a Neuropsychologist in the future.
I have been invited to participate in a very interesting project in Sri Lanka with SLV-Global in May 2018 for 5 weeks. SLV-Global are an organisation that helps students to gain experiences and knowledge in psychology whilst providing psychological care to the people of Sri Lanka, Bali and India. Students will work be placed in psychiatric units, give lessons in English Language and work closely with the young children of these nations.
My desire to take part in such an amazing opportunity like this is built from my love of travelling and my curiosity regarding other cultures but primarily it will be great experience of clinical psychology for me. Furthermore, it will be very useful in the progression of my studies towards Ph.D level in Neuropsychology.
I'm very excited to participate in this project as I believe I can make a difference to the lives of the people who are experiencing psychological issues in Sri Lanka. Also, it will allow me to learn numerous methods of practice for my future job whilst keeping an open mind and understanding how other cultures operate.

Finally, this project is all worked on a voluntary basis and therefore I need money to sustain my time in Sri Lanka. Therefore, I am asking that you please donate anything you wish to contribute to me so I can succeed in making the lives of people in Sri Lanka more manageable.

Thank you very much for taking to time to read this. If you have any questions regarding the project, please do not hesitate to contact me at: emelie.boucher@hotmail.ca
