My Travel Story

by: Xin Eutsler Start Date: Apr 1, 2018 - End Date: Aug 18, 2018
Hello! My name is Xin Eutsler, I am 20 years old and currently a 2nd year University student in New Mexico. My major is East Asian Studies and my minor is International Management.

I am adopted from China and have always been interested in Asian culture. My sisters and I were all adopted from China and grew up only speaking English so I was super excited when I discovered that I could take Chinese at my University and was even happier when I could make a major of it! I can speak a little bit of Chinese but I definitely have a lot to learn.

I am also self teaching Korean because I believe that learning multiple languages at the same time helps you in making the connections in your brain necessary for learning a foreign language much easier than learning one foreign language at a time.

My mother raised (and still is in the case of my younger sister) us as a single parent and helped us to be who we are today. For as long as I can remember, she gave back to those in need through funding sites similar to this one, making her someone I aspire to be one day. She strongly believed that my sisters and I should never forget of our original culture and roots and has taken us back to visit China several times.

I studied abroad in China last summer for 2 weeks as an intensive language experience and I wish to broaden my horizons and experience other countries in East Asia. Next stop, South Korea! It has been a dream goal for me to study abroad in South Korea for years and now it is finally coming true!

My University has an excellent study abroad program and I have been accepted to study abroad at Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea for the coming Fall semester. Seoul is a huge city with a population of around 25.6 million people! It is quite expensive to live there and international flight tickets only add to the expeses.

I discovered this website through my University's study abroad program and thought to give it a look and found so many people going to so many amazing places. I enjoy simply scrolling through all the different profiles and see where everyone is traveling in the world which encouragd me to make a profile of my own.

Anyone who is willing to donate or those who simply enjoy reading people's stories, I sincerely appreciate you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for reading my profile and I hope you enjoy your life to the fullest!

Estimated fees of studying abroad:
Airfare: $1,500
Local Transportation: $800
Room: $2,000
Food: $1,300
Books and Supplies: $400
Other and Personal Expenses: $1,500
Additional Fees: $200
Estimated Total Costs: $7,700

I already have a little financial aide from my family and a local scholarship that I was awarded from my hometown's local scholarships as well as a part-time job that I work at during the holidays and breaks so I have decided on a goal of $3,675.

If you want to know more about me please check out my Facebook (it is really only cat videos) @Xin Eutsler and my Instagram @xinxiao11. I will have the links provided below as well.

If you have read this far it means the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me achieve my dream.
