My Travel Story

by: Nelson Tsui Start Date: Jul 9, 2016 - End Date: Jul 8, 2017
Hi,

My name's Nelson. I recently graduated from Pomona College, California. People have been asking me what's next and I really don't know, but I'm excited. I'd like to work but since I'm not a US citizen, if I don't find a job, I'll have to leave in October. If I do, which is proving quite challenging for an anti-social art major, I'll have till July next year. Either way, I don't think I'll be ready to go home having been away for the past nine years. Which is why I want to ease my way back into it by biking from Harbin to Hong Kong. Harbin being one of the northernmost cities in China while Hong Kong sits on its southern coast. Living in England and the US has made it a little confusing when thinking about who I am and where I'm from. I think some time alone in once-familiar enviroments will help me reacclimate. I have some biking experience, from LA to San Diego and Nevada, and currently work at the school bike shop so I should be able to maintain the bike during the journey.

The trip is roughly 5000km and should take 2 months. I am not very high maintenece so I'd just like some help with food and occasional accomondation. Please and thank you!

Kind benefactors can expect:
Personal postcards from anywhere en route.
A place to stay and tour guide in Hong Kong.
Possibly a tattoo of the route down my leg.
