The struggle of a Long Distance Engagement
My Travel Story
Thank you for checking out my campaign. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read about our situation.
Our situation is that of fairy tales or only seen in movies. Yes thats right. Its about true love and the connection between soulmates. Some easily find such a connection, others only dream of it. In our case, we are fortunate enough to have found each other in this vast and tough world. I consider myself the luckiest man to have found such a wonderful person. And she considers herself the luckiest woman. But it comes with great emotional distress and pain. As we are separated not only by great distance, but with also residing in different countries. We are in the process of obtaining the proper credentials for duel citizenship. These days, no matter the change of citizenship takes years. 4-5 unfortunately.
We first met online 2.5 years ago. We quickly learned of how rare we each were, and how perfect we are in every way, shape or form. Truly unreal, and still to this day, hard to believe. We spend every possible moment together. We spend 8-14h a day on video calls lol. We are truly best friends beore anything else. Throughout those years we have been through wonderful times and difficult hardships. But no matter the severity, we always get through it, together. Together we are strong, and can overcome any obstacle.
Twice now, I have sold anything valuable i owned and gathered funds to the best of my ability so as to visit the love of my life. First time was a surprise for her birthday. She didnt know i was coming. I drove 12h straight across the CAD/US border. I knocked on her door. When she answered, she was so shocked she slammed the door in disbelief. lol
The second time was for our 2y anniversary in August. Which during my stay, I asked her to marry me, She said yes :)
In the 2.5y we have been together, we have only spent a total of 9 days together.
My fiance, Kaylee, is a disabled woman due to Epilepsy. She is unable to travel alone. The stress and anxiety caused by planes/trains/being alone, triggers an epileptic seizures. She holds a passport, but no friend or family member has one to drive her here.
So it is up to me to drive to visit her. Or to go pick her up and drive her back here for a visit.
Due to a workplace injury, surgery and recovery, I was off work for a year. Only receiving $733 CAD per month to live off. It was a struggle.
Since June 2023, I was back to work with a light job not knowing if my body could withstand heavy work loads. I was working for a courier company and was making good money. Business quickly dropped and i wasnt making much of anything. Hardly enough to cover my gas working. They continued to promise me it will pick up soon and to stay with them. It is now Jan 2024 and I am 3 months behind on all my bills. As much as I am in constant search for better employment, it will be some time before Im back on my feet.
I often humour the thought of just leaving everything behind here and starting a life there with her. But there are a lot of hoops to jump through. And legal processes to go through.
I would love nothing more than to just spend a few days with her again. To hold her hand, kiss her cheek. To look in her eyes when I tell her that I love her.
I heard about "fund my travel" and was filled with hope. Hope that here is now an opportunity that I might be able to get some help from good people. And I may get to see my girl again. With the aid of others like you, and a few months to build some funds, I just might be lucky enough to take a trip in May for her birthday. What a gift that would be :)
I again thank you for your time and I wish you well.
Sincerely, Louis and Kaylee
