Hello!

Welcome to our fundraising page! We are Joana & Max, a couple from the Netherlands, and in June 2021 (if COVID-19 allows us to go), we will be going to the beautiful Tanzania for 21 days. We go together for both personal reasons, as for volunteering reasons.

In June, we will be celebrating us being 1,5 years together, which is of course reason to celebrate. A personal trip to Tanzania would be an amazing way to do this, but even nicer it is to add a volunteering trip to it.

In 2014, I (Max) have visited Tanzania already with my own family. While being there, we were confronted with the immense poverty. Against the advices of local authorities, our family decided to go into a small village near Dodoma. There we met John Joackimu, a young 19-year old student who gave us a handwritten letter, saying that he wanted to study at the University of Dodoma in order to become a veterian, but did not have the financial resources to do so.

My parents decided to support his 3 year university degree, as long as the university officially proved that John was going to study there. For three years, we have supported John both financially and mentally. My biggest dream now is to return back to the village near Dodoma, and see how John helped the village flourish with the skills he obtained during his university education. 

Money that we would raise from this fundraising, would be used to purchase plane tickets, but also purchase local supplies for John such as medical equipment for the animals, a plower so that agriculture can be performed, seeds for plants & if we raise enough, we want to dig a water well too.

In order to finance this trip, we aim to raise 6000 euros. We will also include 4000 euros of our personal money, gained through hard work and savings. 
It would be great to have a contribution from any of you. Pictures and videos will be shared on a personal blog once we are there, and they will also be sent personally to anyone who is willing to contribtute to this goal.
