My Travel Story

I would like to take a journey of rediscovery of the diverse history and culture of my people in Botswana. As a heritage tour guide in one region of my country I work with local communities and community based organisations to not only help my people grow but also to expose the uniqueness of my people and their different traditions and cultures through tour guiding, teaching tourists about my country,its history, culture and wildlife, a passion I left my managerial position for.
I would like to expand my knowledge of my people by speaking to the people, visiting as many communities and community based organizations around the country and sharing their heritage with the rest of the world. This will help the communities grow through benefiting from tourists who visits those communities who use their services and/or buy their crafts.
My other goal is to find those who can I could train to become guides within their communities so they can benefit from having travellers recommended to them whenever they are in their area.
Slowly but surely we are losing our way of life, and the traditions and cultures our elders held so dear are being lost as the younger generation has lost interest in learning about our heritage i would like to do my bit to retain this rich culture that is worth sharing and hopefully encourage others to take on the movement to retain our heritage.
I am also hoping for the research from this expedition to end up in literary form for my children and the rest of the world to appreciate even after some of the traditions are lost and aspects of culture forgotten.
I intend to travel around Botswana to select towns and villages big and small in a mission to explore, learn, retain, teach and share Botswana's History, Culture and Wildlife. All aspects of our heritage.
