If you had asked me about my thoughts on science four years ago, I would have told you that science can be interesting to some people, but that I personally neither prioritize nor excel at the field. Now, however, my entire perspective has changed towards science as my college professors have shown my how science relates to my faith, interests, and values. No matter how many times I have tried to pursue other academic disciplines, I am continually brought back to the wonderful world of discovery and challenge that science entails.

Due to this passion for understanding Creation better through science, I have been offered the opportunity to study abroad for 80 days this summer through a program called Seamester. In this program, I will be living on a boat while traveling from Thailand to Bali and participating in cultural excursions on islands between these countries. I will be taking courses in marine biology, oceanography, nautical science, and leadership, and additionally will work towards certifications in safety, scuba diving, IYT sailing, and skipper & crew training. In addition to the academics of this trip, I will have the chance to interact with and serve people who live on the islands we visit.

I do not know what the future holds, but what I do know is that I want to share with others the beauty of nature and why/how we should take care of it. Seamester will offer me the opportunity to gain knowledge and first-hand experiences that I can share with others, as well as offer me insight into what specific career path I want to take.

Due to the importance of this trip, I would like to ask first and foremost for your prayers for this long journey. Second, I would like to ask that you pray and consider whether you could contribute to the costs of this trip. The total cost without flights is $18,370.

Thank you all for your support and role in my life!

My 8-year old cousin, Josie, heard about the exciting opportunity I have to study abroad and wanted to help me out. Without my knowledge, she went into her piggy bank and chose to donate $10 to the trip! I am so thankful for my sweet cousin and her generous heart <3
