My Travel Story

From June 8th to July 3rd I have the opportunity to travel to Cuba on a summer intensive program with my school, MICA.  For four weeks I will be calling Old Havana my home.  We will be exploring the city, visiting local artist and museums.

We will be working and staying with the Cuban artist Tania Bruguera.  Tania is building an art center for artist from all around the world to come and work in Old Havana.  It will be a place for artist to visit and practice their art. There are artist studios and a gallery on site.  Our group will be living in the vibrant and growing artist community!

Next year is my final year of my undergraduate degree and I am so excited and grateful to be going on this trip at this pivotal time in my studies.  Most of my work is based on culture and everyday life so I am hoping I will be inspired by my travels to Cuba.  I am looking forward to this cross-cultural experience to help motivate and influence my senior year thesis work.
