My Travel Story

Hello, my name is Karin and I am a Special Needs Teacher at a Title I campus. I have been teaching for a little over 6 years now and I absolutely love my job. I have a huge passion for my students and strive to give my students opportunities to broaden their horizons. My coworkers and I work hard in order to have our students step out of their zip codes and see the city by fundraising.

We implement a coffee cart work station on campus (incorporating math and social skills), and volunteer to stay late during football/ basketball games to sell concessions. Last year we raised enough money to take our students to Sea World and to the Majik Theatre here in San Antonio. They were ecstatic! This year our goal is to take them on three field trips and we are working hard to get them there.

Just like my students, I wish to broaden my horizons and have been saving take a trip to Venice, Italy with my family. With saving each year, I am slowly making progress but have a while longer from making this a reality. This has been a dream of mine since I was 17 and am looking for any help or donations to make this dream possible during my summer break. I would love to come back to school next year and share my experience with my students. It would give me an opportunity to show them that dreams are a reality and they are capable of what they set their mind to.
