My Travel Story

by: Amanda Cheyenne Hobbs Start Date: Feb 21, 2019 - End Date: Jun 20, 2019
Hi y’all!

My name is Amanda Cheyenne, I’m an Anthropology Major/History Minor at Texas State University in San Marcos. I’m a first generation, working class college student, and i've been given an amazing opportunity to further my education on a study abroad trip to England this summer.  While over seas I will be taking 2 upper level history classes, one of which will actually be at a graduate level. Both of these classes actually contribute majorly to my degree and my future career as I'll be getting first hand experience in museums across the country.  We will also be learning in the field by visiting the historical sites we are learning about.
We have several excursions planned, including one to Scotland where I will even get a chance to tour Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities as those are my top choicese to attend for my masters programs.

This is an opportunity no one in my family has ever had before and I would very much like the chance to take it. I have also begun my own savings account and will continue to save every bit of money I get from side jobs throughout the year and the beginning of summer. I was able to cover my application and reservation fee for the program and the university is covering the majority of the program fee via student loans. I still need to cover plane tickets, my Brit Rail Pass, supplies for the trip, and travel expenses for the month I am out of country.
I've also made a wish list below of items I need/want for the trip as well!

I am offering several incentives for donations and even if you can't donate please spread the word. Any little bit helps.
-Donations of $10-$15 will receive a post card from each town we visit on the trip
-Donations of $20 -$50 will receive a shout out in the blog I plan on keeping and a photo from the trip
-Donations of $100 + I will pick people who have donated this much at random to receive a drawing of their choice done by me (within reason; See photos for examples of drawings I have done; or you can see them on my Instagram which is linked below)
-Dares for Donations: Alternatively, instead of getting one of the above incentives when you donate you also have the option to have me do a dare (within reason) of your choice and live streaming it to facebook! (there is a link to one such video below)

Thank you to everyone who donates! I'd appreciate it so much, you'll be helping me to live out my dreams and to participate in opportunities I wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate in!

And if you are unable to donate, I completely understand, but you can share the link to this page with others. Every little bit, donations, sharing, word of mouth, it all helps!

More specific program information is listed below in two links that will take you directly to the Texas State Chester Study Abroad sites. On each of those sites is the exact cost break down for the trip as well as detials for each excursian.

Thank you!

    Blessed By So Many
This is my graduation cap from my Associates graduation ceremony. I was the first person to graduate college in my family and so many of my family members either came in person to support me or called or wrote to let me know they were with me in spirit and heart. My little sister drove from Alabama to be there and to paint my cap for me. I still have it and it hangs by my bed where I can always look at it and be reminded of why I do this. Why I get up early for classes. Why I work 3 part time jobs. Why I study when my friends would rather I go out with them. Why I am doing this fundraiser right now. Why i am tagging and re tagging so many people on facebook and offering my drawing skills and saving every penny I earn that isn't going to bills. Because I want an adventure. I want my dream job. I want to see and be part of the world. to everyone who has donated, who has shared... THIS is why. This right here. Thank you all so so much from the depth of my heart.
