My Travel Story
seeing places I've only read about, and feeling history come alive around me. I've always been
fascinated by the past; I've watched countless documentaries, imagining what it would be like to
walk through the ancient streets of Pompeii, to stand at Jim Morrison's graveside in Paris (I was
obsessed with The Doors as a teenager), or to step inside the Colosseum and trace the same paths
as the great warriors who once stood there.
Life, though, had a different plan. When I was seventeen, I lost my mum, and my world changed. A
few years later, I met the man who would become my husband, and we built a life together. I
became a young mum to three beautiful, healthy, happy children, and my big travel dream quietly
waited in the background while I poured my heart into raising them.
After twenty-two years together, my husband and I went our separate ways. It was hard, but it also
opened a new chapter - one where I could start to think about me again. Now that my kids are all
grown and living their own lives, I finally have the freedom to chase this dream that's been with me
since I was a teenager. I've started putting some money aside for it, but a little extra help would
mean I could make it happen sooner - to finally walk through the pages of history, and see the world
I've been imagining for so long.
