My Travel Story

I am beginning the journey of a lifetime as a first-year, first-generation student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and I have made it my goal to take hold of any opportunities that will enrich my college experience and help me acquire valuable knowledge as a biomedical engineering major. I chose the VA Corps summer program to intern with in South Africa the summer of 2024 because of the incredible opportunities I believe that this program will provide, including the work experience and professional development advice I’ll receive to implement in the course of my studies at Georgia Tech.
While in Cape Town, I aim to give back to the local community and to build meaningful relationships with my peers that I'll be spending time with. I also strive to develop a sense of appreciation for South African culture through each of my endeavors within this internship.
I am convinced that through this internship I'll not only gain worthwhile expertise as a potential biomedical engineer, but I will also have the opportunity to explore a completely different culture and discover unique perspectives that could surely make an impact on my career as a student at Georgia Tech and beyond.
