I am excited to go to Livingstone, Zambia. I will be volunteering on a Sports and Community Development program through African Impact. My passion is sports and personal wellness, which is why I selected this focus area for my volunteer session. I will be working in schools in and around Livingstone, assisting the organization in teaching sports, nutrition, fitness, and wellness to children. Each morning I'll assist the local teachers with PE and health related classes. In the afternoons I'll run after-school clubs and participate in other aspects of African Impact's community development projects in Livingstone. I am also looking forward to the opportunity to work with local soccer and rugby teams and their coaches.

The goals of the program are to improve self-confidence, teamwork, mental and physical health, as well as helps develop life skills through Physical Fitness. This is a great fit because these are my own goals in my life and for my trip too! In addition to working towards these goals, I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about other challenges faced by young people in this part of the world.

I chose Zambia because I want to be immersed in a place that is completely different from where I live and what I know. Livingstone, Zambia is in the heart of safari country, and I'm hoping to save enough money to go on a safari for a few days at the end of my volunteer session. 

I will be putting together at least one suitcase of donations to contribute to the community. The donations will mostly be personal hygiene supplies, especially for girls and young women. Part of the funds that I raise will go towards these donations, but most of the funds I raise will be to cover the cost of the trip itself.
