About Me

Group for Social Action of the Tagus (GASTagus) is a youth non-profit association based in IST at Taguspark campus that develops projects in the education and development cooperation. The mission of GASTagus is to alert and encourage youth to the discovery and promotion of human dignity by performing voluntary activities in Portugal, Africa and Brazil. The GASTagus began in 2008, founded in partnership with the LAGE2 at IST Taguspark, and has already sent 27 teams to volunteer missions in Africa and in Brazil during the month of August, from 2009 to 2012. Three teams of GASTagus volunteers were sent to mission in August 2009 and 2010, rising to six volunteer teams in 2011 and ending in fifteen teams in 2012 who went to Angola, Sao Tome, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Brazil. In the remainder of the year, volunteers receive intensive training and are volunteers in different institutions of Lisbon, with whom we have partnerships. View: Alert and encourage youth to the discovery and promotion of human dignity. Mission: Integrate and enhance the personal, social and cultural diversity of volunteers. Enrich cultural and personally volunteers through assimilation and practice of GASTagus pillars. Through the Volunteer enabling active and conscious participation in society and the world.
