About Me

Hello there, thank you for visiting my profile page. My name is Akari, I’m a 24 years old woman currently living in Japan. I gained my bachelor degree in both Adult Education and Contemporary Arts last autumn. Since then, I’ve decided to take a gap year to follow my dream of being a creative, collaborative, responsive, and socially aware arts educator. To pursue my future career, I applied for a MEd degree program in community education at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and I successfully got the unconditional offer. During the rest of my gap year, I’m determined to do volunteer work in the applied theatre in Thessaloniki, Greece in order to have relevant working experience and to explore new arts and culture. What I am excited about is interacting with wonderful people and exchanging stories about our cultures and experiences. Having done my secondary education at an international school in Japan, I enjoyed spending my teen years with classmates from various backgrounds, learning from each other about ourselves and how we live together in a multicultural community. This positive experience and appreciation I gained for ethnic diversity led me to join exchange programs, which were held in Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Taiwan, and Greece. Through my studies in the international environment, I completed professional qualifications both as an adult education supervisor and a museum educator. I’m an independent, reliable, friendly, adventurous, determined and self-motivated person. I’m a feminist, LGBTQIA+ ally and I stand against discrimination and oppression. I accept and respect people from various backgrounds.
