About Me
I am a Junior nursing student with a minor in American Sign Language and an additional focus on Spanish. My goals are to graduate next spring and go into a residency program in either pediatrics or perioperative. Ultimately I want to work as a pediatric perioperative travel nurse. After I finish my residency and get some experience under my belt, I want to travel. I want to get as much experience and view as many different perspectives as I can. Healthcare is not a one size fits all and it is constantly changing. I want to be active in that change. If all goes well, I will be going to San Diego for my residency where there is a heavy Spanish-speaking population. By travelling abroad I will be immersed in healthcare in Spanish-speaking environments. Spanish is one of the most in-demand languages requested by employers, and there is a shortage of people who are multilingual. Healthcare is already scary for some people, and the anxiety only heightens if there is a language and cultural barrier. I hope to be someone who can ease that anxiety by being knowledgeable in the language and cultural differences.
