Talofa (Hello) from the beautiful island of American Samoa, a US Territory, located approximately 2300 miles from Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been an educator since 1982 and have been a tennis Mom for just as long. My husband, Dave Godinet, has coached junior players since the 80's. We have fundraised on our little island to raise money for the juniors to travel to other places to compete in tennis to gain more court experience and exposure. We have washed cars, sold bar-b-que plates and specialty foods, held garage sells, sent out solicitation letters to various vendors, held "Hit 3" numbers ... you name it, we've done it. We thought we'd try out one of these websites and give our local vendors and sponsors a break as this task of fundraising has been on going. There are two major tennis events that our juniors participate in sponsored by the Oceania Tennis Federation / International Tennis Federation; however, they only provide 50-70% subsidy for specific age divisions. We have a Junior Booster Club with parents to help fundraise for the kids. Our previous juniors have benefitted from tennis with tennis scholarships to US universities and have successfully graduated with a degree and no student debt.
