About Me

Do you know how you make plans to live your dream, get really close and then the universe does a reverse Uno on you? Well, that has consistently been my story. As a kid I always knew what I wanted to do.… Broadcasting. I won a spot in high school to work at our local cable TV station. I was elated! So of course I went to community college to get an associates degree in mass communications - radio/television broadcasting. Unfortunately, a year to the date of my high school graduation my mother passed away. My life went into a tailspin. But I did not give up. Because she taught me better. I joined the military, saw the world, got out, went back to school to finish (because of course I didn’t the first time around), got a decent job in corporate America, was downsized then outsourced. Eventually I got another job in law enforcement. Then a job in nonprofit - they ran out of grant funding. Then a job in education where I finally thought I was getting my footing in a position I could retire from. And then I had an auto accident that took me out of the workforce completely. So at the age of 53 I technically had to retire. And even though I do not have consistent means to travel, I have begun doing mission trips and finding spots around the world that have projects that need to be completed. My first trip allowed me to go to the Philippines. I had been stationed there while serving in the Air Force in 1988. Knowing the needs of that region I was so excited to help with building a kitchen at a middle school. While I am currently living with my niece and her family - sleeping on their sofa, I am still finding ways to make my way into this world to help people. Because while visiting family in California where I graduated high school, seeing people living under bridges in tents let me know that I am still blessed. At almost 60 years old… Sleeping on a sofa… Not knowing what tomorrow will bring… I am still blessed. But a little assistance with my trips would be greatly appreciated.
