About Me
My name is Geylin, a 33-year-old Venezuelan who made a crucial decision six years ago: to leave my home and family in search of a better future. I arrived with just enough, barely enough to survive a month, trusting that I would quickly find employment as promised before I departed. Reality turned out differently. My initial weeks were a challenge. I started by cleaning, then at a hair salon; necessary jobs to survive but far from what I had dreamed. Eight months filled with uncertainty and sacrifice passed before I found a job related to my career. But fate dealt me a harsh hand. After eleven months, the company closed down. It was distressing months until, three months later, I secured another job in my field. Here I am now, in this job that I like, with kind bosses, but a salary that barely covers rent, personal expenses, and meals for me and my four-legged children, without whom I don't know what would have become of me. I had never asked for financial help before, but circumstances have led me to consider it. As we say in my country, "knocking on the door doesn't mean entering." I prefer to exhaust all options rather than stay in a place where I no longer feel good or safe, a country that, unfortunately, is declining both socially and economically. I know life takes unexpected turns, and although I like my current job, I feel it's time to seek new opportunities and a place where I can thrive. I want to build a stable future, both for myself and to continue supporting my family in Venezuela, in an environment that offers security and growth. Thank you for considering my story and for any help you can provide. Together, we can make this change towards a more promising future.
