Help Jaiku and Family Go Visit Son Who is in the Hospital Hello everyone, my name is Jaiku, I am raising funds to visit my eldest son David who has been in hospital in Montreal since November 17th, 2023. I’m the father of four boys married to Anne. My son who just turned 16 years old on April 13th had a very bad accident that almost ended his life, he hit his head on the fuel tank which put him in a coma for almost 3 weeks. They had to remove his right bone flap (Right side of Skull) because it was too swollen and it was off for a month and a half, now the doctors have put it back in place. He was also in a breathing tube for a month because that spot in the brain was affected, he was in intensive care for over 3 months and could not talk, he was also getting fevers that were life-threatening at the time, and was fed only through his nose to the stomach. I’m very thankful we have doctors who do brilliant things and miracles through Jesus Christ. Thank you so much to them from the bottom of my heart, right now as I’m writing this April 16th, 2024 he is still in the hospital in the rehab center. Half of his body still can’t move because the brain got too damaged, and his brain has to retrain as a newborn baby does. He is starting to talk now which is a very good thing and the feeding is directly going to the stomach through the tube that can be removed after feeding, and also is still taking different medications today. His having physical and mental training every day during the weekdays. It’s going to take many more months for him to get better and the doctors said he will never be 100% ever again, he was a healthy teenager not long ago. Mother has been with him since the beginning, and the father and three younger boys are way back home in Quaqtaq QC, We haven’t seen David in a very long time. Four of us spent Christmas with him though with help from the hospital except our youngest kid Charlie who hasn’t seen David since November of last year. We miss them so much. Petermark and Piari haven’t seen him since the beginning of January, We had to go back home because my boys have school to do. For me, I went back down for 2 weeks from the end of January up until the Second week of February, I haven't seen David since. Mother came to visit us on March 16th and stayed home for 2 weeks then went back down south again on April 1st. It’s tough when there's no road to travel only by plane. About Us: I am Jaiku Tukkiapik 44 years old married to Anne for almost 9 years now, we live in Quaqtaq QC, Nunavik Canada. I have four boys: Petermark 13 years old, Piari 11 years old, Charlie 5 years old, and my eldest son David 16 years old is in hospital. We had a daughter too who would be 23 years old right now, she passed away 2 years ago due to a heart problem, we miss her a lot too by the way. I’m fundraising because the whole family wants to visit my son David during summer break from school, just for me alone costs $1,300 to go down south, we have no roads to go anywhere, no trains, only by plane. It is very expensive up north to travel by plane. I don’t even know about the hotel, transportation, and food expenses would cost if we went as a family.
