About Me

My dream since, forever, has been to study abroad in England. In 6th grade, I picked up a book over the wreck and story of the Titanic and instantly I was transfixed for all British history. Kings and Queens, Shakespeare, and the War of the Roses all accumulated to getting into my Theatre Studies degree. Along with this concentration, I want to double degree in history so that I can teach it using theatre methods and other art intergration techniques. For those who do not know me, I am a 33 year old non-traditional student at University of Texas at Austin. I transferred in the fall of 2016 as a Junior from Houston Community College. I have been on my journey to get my first Bachelor's Degree since before 2007. After many struggles and obstacles, I finally earned my Associate's degree and was accepted into UT as a Theatre Studies major. I am in my second semester and beginning to plan for the next year. In the spring of 2018, I have a chance to go to England before I begin my student teaching the next year. Being a first generation college student, my family never had the means to contribute to my education and at UT I am funded by pell grants, student loans and work study. Even with financial aid to put towards the program fees, it still leaves me short of the one semester cost, which includes tuition, room and board, travel expenses and necessities. Also being an independent student, I have to have my belongings in storage for that whole time since I do not have a permanent home of my own. Help my dream become a beautiful reality for me! Thank you so much and I will keep you updated on my journey each step of the way! Help spread the word!
