Hello all! My name is John Lane-Watson, and I am a senior Music major at the University of Missouri. My primary instrument is double/electric bass and I play in the Concert Jazz band, University Philharmonic orchestra at Mizzou, and jazz quartet Sharp the Nine with 3 other members of the school of music. I also performed in the 2018 Mizzou Theatre summer rep. show Dance on Bones as an actor/musician, exposing myself to the beauty and power theatre holds in the community. During my time at Mizzou, I have developed a deep passion towards music and the arts and want to take it a step further by exploring the arts of different regions of the world. My goal is to analyze and study non-western traditions of art styles in its social and cultural contexts. Topics of painting, film, music, theatre, and other areas I may not be exposed to yet, are essential contributions to understanding how values and attitudes in diverse cultures are shaped.
