Hi! I’m Kiam, a student from Germany. I’m currently navigating a long-distance relationship with my fiancé, who lives in Australia. We’ve been together for 2 years, and while the distance has been challenging, our love and commitment keep us going strong. I’m doing everything I can to make our relationship work, juggling a full-time remote job, an internship, and my studies just to cover my basic expenses like rent, food, and travel to see him. Unfortunately, I don’t receive financial support from family or friends, so I’m completely on my own when it comes to making ends meet. We’re planning to apply for a partner visa for Australia, which costs around 9k€, but the process takes about two years to complete. In the meantime, I need to visit him as much as possible to maintain our connection and continue building our future together. Traveling halfway across the world several times a year is financially draining, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for our relationship.
