Howdy, My name is Madeleine Brown and I am a rising Senior at the University of Tennessee Knoxville studying sustainability with a concentration in Urban systems and transit. Welcome to my study abroad fundraising page! I am planning on going to Freiburg, Germany this coming fall to study environmental studies and German with IES Abroad (a UTK affiliate program). I'm incredibly fascinated with public transit, especially rail transit, and desire to see urban transit systems in the U.S. become more efficient, more effective, and safer for all populations. Going to Freiburg affords me the opportunity to first engage tangibly with my major in sustainability because it is an excellent example of a green city, and secondly, allows me to study Eurocentric mass transit options in order to further my understanding of successful transit that could be implemented in the U.S. A little about me: - I've been a Christian since 2020, and have seen God's abundant grace and faithfulness all over my college and study abroad experiences. He is good, and He is trustworthy through it all! - I love coffee! I work as a barista and love to serve others in this way. You'll probably catch me sipping on a fun latte or sipping a pour over often! - I also love being outside and definitely consider myself a "granola girl"; hiking is just the best! - I started to love rail transit after I visited DC for the first time my freshman year of college, and make it a point to ride the metro as much as possible every time I visit. I'm glad you're here, whether it's to give financially or prayerfully, and am so thankful for for your help!
