Bonjour! My name is Marleen Salters and I'm raising money for a once in a lifetime study abroad experience to Leiden, Holland and Paris, France this summer. As I entered into my graduate program at Mercer University, I spent a lot of time thinking about ways in which I could elevate my learning experience. It didn't take me long to realize studying abroad was the answer. When I found out I had been blessed with the opportunity to travel out of the country for the first time last semester, I was more than ecstatic. Being able to have an experience like this in tangent with being the first of my siblings to go to grad school is such a meaningful achievement. Currently, I am studying clinical mental health at Mercer with hopes of pursuing a career in mental health upon completion. I decided to pursue this field of study because I feel mental health plays a major role in everyone's life and I would like to be an mental health advocate spreading more awareness to others. As well as conducting studies on mental health disorders. Overall, I truly believe this experience will not only make me a better student, but also a more cultured person and future worker. From this experience, I hope to gain a new perspective and learn from people whom differ from me culturally. The study abroad experience takes place from June 10-20, 2020. In that time I will be studying Narrative Theory in both Holland and Paris. The total cost for the experience is $2,975, my student loans have covered partial leaving me a remainder of 1,075. This cost includes: airfare, accommodations, in country transportation, museum visits, one meal per day. The first deposit for the experience is February 1st- super soon so the help would be greatly appreciated! The final payment is due May 1st.
