About Me
Menna Elhosary is an award-winning communication scholar with over five years of teaching and research experience. She is currently a PhD candidate at City, University of London, researching the weaponization of generative AI and its intersection with war propaganda and information disorder. Her doctoral studies are fully funded by the School of Communication and Creativity. Menna holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the American University in Cairo and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Cairo University. She earned both degrees with the highest honors. Her academic career further involved participation in exchange programs and research mobilities at the University of Murcia and Philips University in Marburg. Menna is devoted to studying communication in the Middle East. She aims to balance the extensive scholarly work dedicated to the West. Her research interests revolve around visual communication, visual generative AI and visual propaganda, war and media, and information disorder.
