About Me

Hi, my name is Nathan Doran, and I am in tenth grade at Dana Hills High School. I enjoy athletics such as track and basketball. I also like to travel. I have been given the opportunity to travel to many beautiful places such as Costa Rica, Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, and other places in the United states. This has made me want to explore the world. I am eager to go on this adventure to Tanzania, Africa because I think Africa is exponentially different from where I live, and I am looking for a unique experience. The raw beauty of open geography of Tanzania is appealing because of how urbanized modern culture now is. I find great joy in helping others in need. On this trip, I will partake in multiple activities to help and better the lives of the local people. These activities consist of building homes, building schools, teaching English, as well as supplying fresh water to drink. This trip will not only benefit myself as a person, but multiple families. By being in such a different environment I will further develop as a person. I have learned of multiple ways of living, and have come to realize how lucky I am to live where I live. It is very easy to take what I have like water and free education for granted. In Tanzania, I am going to a place that is not as fortunate as where I live. It is challenging for the people of these areas to attain fresh water to drink as well as education. I want to make fresh water easier to access, and help build schools so more kids can have better access to education. This trip will allow me to have the opportunity to give back, and teach me what it means to be of service.
