Hi, I'm a third year undergraduate BSc Psychology student at the University of the West of England. Psychology is my passion and I hope to eventually become a qualified Clinical Psychologist. However, I have not yet decided which area in particular I would like to specialise in. I have somewhat gained experience of working in a Clinical environment at my current workplace, a Plastic Surgery, and have worked with children through my charity involvement, specifically with Frenchay After Burns Children's Club. By going on a Mental Health Placement with SLV I hope to experience how other cultures understand mental health and provide an education for those in Bali. This will involve working within the only psychiatric in-patient hospital in Bali, working with those with special needs, teaching English to children and adults in the area to improve their opportunities, and create workshops alongside other volunteers to promote wellbeing (for example, the use of music and art therapy). As you could probably guess, this experience will provide me with some amazing skills which I can use when I (hopefully) become a Clinical Psychologist. It will improve my chances of getting into a doctorate programme to train as a Clinical Psychologist. It will allow me to see a beautiful part of the world I've not yet explored.
