About Me
Hi, I'm Selam, a traveler, expat, and storyteller with roots in Ethiopia and a home wherever my passport takes me. Born in Awassa, Ethiopia, and now American, I’ve spent much of my life moving across borders, embracing cultures, and discovering the beauty of the world with my husband and daughter. Living as an expat has shaped the way I see travel—not just as a getaway, but as a way of life. From bustling markets in Africa to hidden gems in Southeast Asia, I’ve learned that the world isn’t just a place to visit; it’s a place to belong. Now, as I embark on a journey to explore 20 countries across Africa and Southeast Asia in a year, I want to share my experiences—off-the-beaten-path destinations, cultural connections, and the realities of travel as a family. With my husband’s job uncertain due to recent aid cuts, this journey is also about reinvention, finding new paths, and turning my passion for travel into something sustainable. If you love travel, culture, and discovering life beyond borders, I hope you’ll join me on this adventure!
