Hi! I am going into my final year of high school and I could not be more excited to be beginning my journey to becoming a global citizen. The world has always interested me; world history was much more fun for me than U.S. history. That interest for the world began to shift and change into an insatiable wanderlust as I got older. My first trip out of the country was with my school's Spanish department my freshman year. It was just a 12-day trip to Guatemala and Belize that would change the course of my life; I fell in love with traveling. Speaking another language, experiencing another culture, and being immersed in a region with such geographical beauty continuously amazed me. All it took was 12-days but that trip firmly cemented my interest in the Spanish language and gave me a love and appreciation of traveling that will stay with me for the rest of my life. That trip inspired my 3-week trip to Peru the following year and my trip to Spain this summer. It also influenced my future career and education goals; I now plan on majoring in International Relations and Latin American Studies in college before continuing on to become a human rights attorney.
