My name is Sydney Maire and I'm 23 years old. I've attended Oregon State University since 2019 and took some terms off during the pandemic, but am now officially a senior planning to graduate in March of 2025. As a low-income student I didn't think studying abroad would be an option for me, but I've found that is not the case. Oregon State has a very great Global Scholarship Office. There I was able to receive help finding scholarship opportunities and ended up submitting my application for the Gilman Scholarship in early March. I am working part time locally as a full time student, received Honor Roll recognition last term, and am working hard to finish my Bachelor of Science in Digital Communication Arts with a Minor in Film Studies. I feel very inspired to travel and see what the world has to offer, and am excited to intersect that interest with my area of study.
