About Me
My name is Tigidankay Timbo, but most people call me Tigi or Tida. I am a Sierra Leonean woman with a heart for service and a deep commitment to uplifting communities that have been overlooked, underserved, and forgotten. My passion for change comes from my upbringing, my family values, and the unique path God has placed me on. I grew up watching my father, Alpha Timbo, dedicate his life to education, youth empowerment, and community development in Sierra Leone. He taught me that leadership is not about titles it is about showing up for your people, standing for justice, and creating opportunities where none existed. That foundation shaped everything I am today. Over the years, life has taken me between Sierra Leone and the United States. Living in these two worlds gave me a powerful perspective: I saw the endless opportunities available abroad, and I also saw the potential and brilliance of our people back home brilliance that too often goes unsupported. I realized that if we don’t rise to build our own communities, no one else will. My passion for change is rooted in real experiences: I have seen young women addicted to kush who want a second chance. I have seen villages full of talented youth who want education, skills, and hope. I have seen mothers struggling to provide for their children with dignity. I have seen entire communities ready to grow if someone simply believes in them. That “someone” is who I strive to be. Through the People’s Development Foundation, I am working to create sustainable pathways vocational training, micro-loan opportunities, job creation, youth empowerment, and community-based projects like our coconut candle-making program in Rokulan. I am passionate about climate-conscious solutions, economic development, and building a future where young people can dream and succeed without leaving home. I am driven by purpose, not recognition. Serving people fulfills me. Helping others rise gives my life meaning. I believe that real change starts with small steps, consistent commitment, and the courage to show up even when the world doubts you. Everything I do—from fundraising in the U.S. to running programs in Sierra Leone is fueled by love for my people and belief in a better future. I am passionate because these communities are not just statistics. They are my family, my sisters, my brothers, my home. This is who I am: A woman committed to impact. A daughter of Sierra Leone. A believer in transformation. And someone who will never stop fighting for her community.
