About Me

My name is Travis Livingston and I'm studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I'm a Chancellor's Honors Program student, which means I must take Honors courses, attend a number of seminars every semester, and fulfill 25 hours of community service every year, among other requirements. I'm also the first person in my family to attend a four-year university, thus making me a first-generation college student. My attitude towards hard work has gotten me where I am today, and will continue to propel me into my future. This hard working attitude is what has netted me my current occupation: a Resident Assistant for a residence hall on UTK's campus. My responsibilities as an RA include getting to know the residents on my floor personally and act as role model and resource for them. I also work to build a floor community by inviting my residents out, as well as hosting floor-wide programs/events that brings my floor together. I also help on the administrative side, by helping run the residence hall as well as enforcing university housing policy. This is a position I greatly enjoy, and I already hold several close relationships with residents on my floor. It's a very rewarding occupation. Finally, I have a number of interests. The foremost among these being an avid reader. I continuously grow my library of books, from authors such as Stephen King to Ayn Rand. My only regret in life thus far is not reading enough books. Apart from reading, I also love to do community service projects related to the environment. Additionally, I enjoy hiking and mountain biking when weather permits.
